But Mangas are a very opposite world to our western Comic strips. In Japan they've got a long tradtion and in these days they're a basic element of the modern cultural scene. Like sixty years ago it wasn't common to buy Manga books, but to rent them in a library (because people couldn't afford them). Even then there had been a wide range of different Mangas - for different people: Adventure stories for boys, romantic Mangas for girls. In the 50's Mangas got more and more popular. Especially the Mangas by "Tezuka Ozamu" has been a big hit and people loved his stories. Even in these days Tezuka Ozamu is called the "God of Manga" (Manga no kamisama). His series "Astro Boy" is legendary - and still availible. Maybe some people also know Osamu as author of "Kimba - the white lion". Today publishers produce so many Mangas that the amout of paper they need is higher than for toilet paper. Weekly new stories are being published for any kind of age and interest...
					Neon Genisis Evangelion One of the most successful series in the last 10 years. If you have a first look on Evangelion it seems like the old story "good against bad" - or big robots and tough girls. But it only seems to - Evangelion is a psycologic trip deep into the soul of human nature and the future of the human race.
