Older SM PC-Games (Super Mario PC Challenge 1-5 and SM PC Fun)

Here is an overview of the first 6 parts of the SM PC-Games. These games weren't translated into English, you can only play them in German. However, as they usually don't contain many texts, there should be no problem to play them, even if you don't understand any German.

The first SM PC-Game, Super Mario PC Challenge 1, was finished in August 2002. It has a very simple structure : the princess got kidnapped and Mario has to jump through 14 well-designed levels (which are, of course not as sophisticated and diversed as in newer games). Although the levels are simpler, they are not necessarely easier. The game, that you can download here (about 1 MB - but needs the RM2k-RTP), doesn't include many texts, so it is (also for people who don't understand German) quite easy to play.
Here is also an Update but I don't recommend it to people who don't understand German.

Screenshot from Super Mario PC Challenge 2 Super Mario PC Challenge 2 was also released in 2002 but there was already some progress. Although the game is technologically not much better than its predecessor, it has some interesting levels (this time there are 28 of them) and as the game doesn't contain much text, there should be no problem to play it without any knowledge of the German language. You can download it here (about 1 MB), it also needs the RM2k-RTP (a graphics- and sound-package).

Super Mario PC Challenge 3 has many levels (44) and also more enemies, level-types and some new features but it is often criticized for being too monotonous. I only recommend the game to people who understand a bit of German as there is more text. You can download it here (again about 1 MB), it also needs the RM2k-RTP (a graphics- and sound-package). Screenshot from Super Mario PC Challenge 4 : Yoshi's Quest Super Mario PC Challenge 4 : Yoshi's Quest is the first part of the SM PC-Games with Yoshi as main character. He has to pass 20 levels to rescue Mario and his friends. The game is a "must-have" for fans of Mario's green friend and as the game is again technologically better and as it includes more graphics and less texts, it is an interesting package for everyone. You can download it here (about 1 MB - but needs the RM2k-RTP). The patch which enables also a yellow and a blue Yoshi is unfortunately only interesting if you understand some German.

More levels, more graphics, more level-types and again an improvement concerning some technologies are all integrated in Super Mario PC Challenge 5 which also includes a "Best of" from its predecessors. This game (which is by the way the last one that wasn't translated into English) presupposes some knowledge of the German language. You can download it here (a bit more than 1 MB) and you also need the RM2k-RTP (a graphics- and sound-package). Screenshot from Super Mario PC Challenge 5

Screenshot from Super Mario PC Fun Super Mario PC Fun is the first minigames-collection of the SM PC-Games and its first version was already finished before SM PC Challenge 2. This means that the game and its graphics are quite old. However, SM PC Fun was voted the best "older SM PC-Game" and I was often asked to make a successor (which you find here). You can play with Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Yoshi, Koopa, Goomba and many more in Jump'n'runs, an RPG, a quiz and some Mariokart-races.
Except for the minigame "Marioquiz" you don't need to understand German. You can download SM PC Fun here (about 1 MB - but needs the RM2k-RTP). If you want to install the optional patch, you need to understand some German.

Explanation :

If you downloaded a game from this list and don't understand anything : don't worry, just push Enter or Space for the texts. The file that you have to open after the (English) installation is called "RPG_RT.exe".
"Los" means Start, "Laden" means Load and "Beenden" is the German word for End.

Controls :
- Arrow keys to move.
- Enter or Space to jump.
- Esc to pause and save ("Speichern").

You can save after each level (levels are usually marked in a different color).
By the way : If you're asked for a "Personenbeschreibung", it's easier to answer "Nein" (No) to avoid a German description of the characters.
