Please note that this page is no longer up-to-date. I haven't calculated new statistics recently, which means that there is no updated data available. I will change that as soon as possible, but in the meantime you'll only find here the statistics from 2005.

Downloadstatistics (from May 2005)

The SM PC-Games have a lot of downloads for freeware-games and they are played on many places around the world. They are particularly popular in German-speaking areas and in North America, but there are also for example some fans in India, Japan and Australia. Here is now an overview of the numbers (which are, of course, not exactly measurable), based on the counted downloads of the games-sites (-> see above), which are, however, not always reliable. I also considered the different website-counters and the feedback.

Altogether : around 165'000 downloads
canceled downloads, incorrect counters and deleting without playing : 95'000
real downloads, where the games are played : 70'000
different users : 30'000

The SM PC Games-websites (from 2006)

These homepages are daily visited from around 45 users. Altogether, about 90 % of them use the MS Internet Explorer followed by Mozilla (7 %) and Opera (3 %). Microsoft also dominates at the operating systems (over 99 % of the visitors have a Windows-OS) with MS Windows XP (about 77 %) before Win. 98 (11 %) and 2000 (7 %). 65 % have a screen resolution of 1024 x 768, followed by 800 x 600 (30 %). Most of the visitors come on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, altogether usually between 12 a.m. and 8 p.m. Many visitors found this site over games-sites (gratisgames.de, caiman.us and freegames.com.au).
Europe is the leader of the continents with around 60 %, followed by North America (25 %), Asia (7 %) and Oceania (5 %) ; Germany is the leader of the countries with around 35 % before the USA (21 %), the United Kingdom (7 %), Austria (6 %), Australia (5 %), Luxembourg (4 %) and Canada (4 %).
The visitors of the German homepage return by the way often to the site, while users of the english and french one rarely come back.
