Standard A little big problem with Disharmony.

NOTE: Sorry about my horrible english. I didn't speak english very well (I originaly talk spanish), and Germany is not my potential xD. Well...

Iorana (hi!)

First of all, I wish congratulate all of yours. The german tools and patchs are the best of the "making world", these tools are very useful in the spanish communities... Continue these way.

Okay, but now, i want to report a trouble with the Disharmony audio patch (these patch made by UglyHorst that plays MP3, WMA, OGG and othes formats with DirectShow), with the MIDI melodies.

When I start a RPG_RT.exe (any version compatible with harmony.dll), and i play a MIDI Melody, 2 things happen:

1. Or MIDIs doesn't play (but if I play a MIDI, an MP3 later, and last, the same MIDI, it plays with no problems)
2. Or then, MIDI´s plays, but with a very "sssslllooooooww" speed.

But if I play non MIDI-formats, i didn't have any problems.

I use the 0.9.2.23 version of Disharmony.dll (the 2 versions, the normal version and the "HarmonyCacheSound" fix)... Is it the last version of this DLL, or there's a recent version with this bug fixed? Or... There's other way to fix this problem?

I will be grateful if somebody help me with this.
Maururu (thanks)... bye!!!

NOTE: If this post is incorrectly posted here in the forums... Sorry about. I didn't know german and i think this is the best place to notify troubles with tools and patchs.

Hi

You chose a great place to discuss this issue, cause I'm active here (I'm the author).

I believe this midi issue was fixed in version 0.9.3... however, this version has strange fading, and maybe you meant this version because I don't think there was a 0.9.2.23.

In any case, the latest version is available from here, could you test it with that version if not already done? Thanks.

Edit: I have to work on a new version anyway... and have it tested by some with slower computers again *sigh*

Iorana Derula

Wow, you are the creator of Disharmony... congratulations about your tool... there's a lot of help in old RPG Makers.

But... bad news. In the version 9.3, the issue doesn't solve. Is the same thing, doesn't play MIDIs, except with the homebrew fix (play a MIDI, an mp3, and a midi)...

Well, i give you some information about this bug.

-These bug appears not only in my PC...
-With my homebrew fix, the MIDI plays, but with a difference of 1 second app. from the start of the song.
- Sometimes, the sound effects with a different pitch plays with the original speed (that ocurrs rarely).

Ah, and this:

- In the UglyHorst page, the Installer was the version 0.9.2, but the 7-zip version was the 0.9.3

Okay, that is. Is very strange about this bug... That occurs in your PC's? O_o

Thanks for your answer, good luck with your Disharmony and bye! A_A

Whoops... I bet it's only the installer reporting the wrong version... again

I don't think it does. It quite sure didn't in version 0.9.2.21. I'm not in Windows right now, so I can't test it. On an earlier version, it occurred that midi would be playing very slowly or very fast, if you played multiple midis one after another in a short period of time, but I fixed the bug that in 0.9.2.

I'll boot my old PC to have a look. But I'm not sure how to help if it doesn't occur on my PC... anyways, thanks you like Disharmony!

Btw., please tell me the Windows version you're using as well as the version of DirectX you've installed! Thanks.

Edit: Just tested it on Windows XP again, and it worked. Are you by any chance using Vista?

Okay... Iorana agin xD

Well... very strange bug...

I use a Windows XP SP2, with a DirectX 9.0c (a typically OS)...

Okay, i have tested it with a Dell Inspiron 1501, with a Sigmatel High Definition audio codec (motherboard base audio chipset)...

Mmm... then, dont worry. I wanna use my little bugfix to my game.

Maururu... chaos

Alternatively, you could also use an older version which still uses the original DLL for midi playback. I really don't know why you have that problem O.o

Anyways, I've been looking into porting it to DirectMusic, maybe that would help, but I don't know.

Iorana Derula...

Okay, i ve discovered that bug.
The problem will cause if you use an AutoEnter Patch ( Like Cherry's BetterAEP, in my case)... I ve tested in a unpatched Maker 2000 and it works with no problems.

Well... thanks a lot for your help. Bye

PD: Maybe the bug also will cause with 2003 Makers with ForceHarmony... i didn't tested yet that...
